Building Bikes for Africa
Each Cadbury* UPC equals one virtual bike part and it takes 100 parts to make each virtual bike.† Since the Bicycle Factory first opened in 2009, we have built 9332 specially-designed bicycles, that make it easier for thousands of children to get to and from school. Next year, with your help, we’ll send even more.
.
For kids in rural Ghana, bicycles represent more than just transportation and fun. They also represent mobility, freedom and change. That’s why we named the specially-designed bicycles that we’re sending to Ghana† “Nframa”, the Ghanaian word for “wind.” Check out how bikes like these can affect the lives of the kids who receive them.

The 2010 delivery
Every year since the opening of The Bicycle Factory in 2009, we’ve sent one lucky bicycle builder and a guest to Ghana to help distribute the bicycles built that year. Well good news bicycle builders, we’re doing it again in 2011! The unforgettable ten day trip to Ghana includes airfare and hotel, transfers, spending money and a lifetime of amazing memories. If you’d like an idea as to just how amazing it would be to deliver the bicycles, just watch the 2009 and 2010 delivery videos on the left.
